Welcome to Kinetic Technique!

Meet Your Trainer

Shelly is so excited to share her love of movement with her community and the world. She brings over 15 years of teaching experience with knowledge and diversity from her background including a professional dance career, competitive gymnastics, Pilates, pole, aerial silks, and other aerial arts to create a skillset rooted in creativity and adaptability.

Her first Physical Therapy experience around age 8 sparked a lasting interest in recovery, exercise, and the way the body learns to move. She even conceptualized her dream of teaching by making business cards that read “Gymnastics Coach” to imagine a life that she hoped would be realized. So it was no surprise that she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Pre-Physical Therapy and a minor in Dance from Humboldt State University. During college and beyond, she worked as a ballet dancer for a company and began her teaching career, first teaching Adult Beginning Ballet, then Company classes, and eventually moving up to Choreographer for dance and musical theatre companies.

Beginning her next chapter as a personal trainer and Pilates instructor was a natural extension of her lifelong study of movement, and she decided to go at it full force by becoming a Fully Certified STOTT Pilates Instructor and opening a private studio. Several years later, she fulfilled her dream of being an educator by continuing her education and achieving the role of Fully Certified STOTT Pilates Instructor Trainer, and gets to teach her Anatomy and Biomechanics heart out. Most recently, she is extremely proud to have passed the rigorous exam to become a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine, an achievement open only to those with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.
